IDGs and Compassionate Systems Leadership:
Putting the IDGs into practice

Join us for an exclusive 3-day Masterclass in "Compassionate Systems Leadership" with Peter Senge in Stockholm that will give you a deeper understanding of 'systems change' in complex situations and the personal and interpersonal capacities needed to lead this kind of change.

This masterclass is designed for leaders in all sectors who are committed to influencing the integration of IDGs in diverse institutional contexts. Whether you're a business leader, educator, government official, or NGO representative, this masterclass will provide you with the advanced tools and knowledge you need to drive systems change.

"The IDGs are opening a space of curiosity and engagement around the world.

Many recognize them as addressing a blindspot in how we are currently approaching global issues like climate change, inequity and the SDGs more broadly - namely, the ‘inner work’ of how we grow personally and inter-personally in order to confront and stay engaged creatively in fostering ongoing systems change.

What is needed now more than ever is lead institutions who are showing what it takes to work with the IDGs in practice and the benefits this can create."

- Peter Senge, MIT Sloan School of Management

The Masterclass Experience

While many people talk about how "systems change” is needed, few people have a good grasp of how such change might occur and of the personal and interpersonal capacities systems change leadership entails.

Social systems work the way they do because of how we, the people embedded in the systems, work. Real systems change is an inevitably personal journey of personal growth and development. The deeper message of the IDGs is that by developing the personal and interpersonal capacities necessary for leadership, we can make meaningful progress towards the deep change the world needs.

This is why the Masterclass will be organized around hands-on practice with 'compassionate systems leadership' tools:

6 elements of Compassionate Systems Change

The Masterclass is aimed at teams and groups of pioneers from businesses, education, governmental and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) who are committed to learning how to embed the IDGs in how they and their own organizations work.

While individuals are welcome to attend, we highly recommend that
teams of people from the same organization
attend together.

Masterclass Facilitators

Peter Senge

Peter Senge is a respected thinker, author, and speaker, with decades of experience researching and writing about systems thinking and organizational learning.

He is the author of the bestselling book "The Fifth Discipline: The Art & Practice of The Learning Organization" and a senior lecturer at MIT, where he founded the Society for Organizational Learning.

Gustav Böll

Gustav Böll leads the Youth Team at the Center for Systems Awareness and its efforts of training students and teachers on the Compassionate Systems Framework.

He also teaches world leaders to understand complexity in a compassionate way, so they can work together instead of against each other in order to create a world better suited to take on the challenges of our time.

Who should attend?

1. Teams (and partners)

We highly recommend that teams of people from the same organization attend together. This is because the masterclass is focused on practical application and attendees will have the opportunity to work on real-world examples and exercises that will help them develop their own capacities for systems change.

2. Leaders for system change

People in leadership positions from all sectors who are seeking to use their influence to bring systems change into their organizations. This includes leaders with formal authority to make decisions that will shape the future of their organizations as well as "network leaders" who are key to how new ideas and practices spread, and can influence a wide range of people and organizations.

3. Leaders of all ages

We deliberately pair young and established leaders: People in leadership positions, and those who support them, are important because of the formal authority they have. Equally important are the young people who are less attached to the ways of the past and can, prospectively, lead in ongoing systems change in the coming decades. They are leaders for today, not just the future.
